Hours of entertainment!
I bought this last minute for my nieces dino themed 4th birthday not realizing the age suggested 8+. It ended up being the perfect gift for some quality time. She did AMAZING and sat there engaged for several hours. She finished the whole dig in one play session and was able to identify almost every fossil on her own. I only helped a little here and there pouring water to assist with making the plaster more workable. When she found the mosasaur tooth she was elated and thought the ârock poopâ was hilarious. Also burst into song about trilobites ð Will definitely be buying more kits for her and I to do together. Fun and educational!

Engaging Activity for Kids (& Adults)
Quality product that provides hours of fun for little ones⦠Adults may have to help remove residual plaster bits stuck in crevices.Real authentic specimens, and definitely worth the cost! Will recommend to any parent whose child is into dinosaurs and fossils.

Real fossils!
Gonna be honest, bought this for my self. 😀 caught it on a deal for $17ish and well, I have no impulse control, and love fossils. So here the deal. This would make a great gift, and I’m sure kids would love it. I did and am thinking about getting another one.Pro: came with 15 actual fossils.Con: the bone looks like a regular rock, and I didnt get the orthoceras. Some of the fossils like the Mosa tooth are broken and glued togethor, and the trilobite was super fragile to the point just gently rinsing it in a bowl of water was causing it to flake apart.Pro: instead of the orthoceras, i got a flat patterned black fossil. Lady at the museum downtown told me it looked like fossilized skin! The trilobite was like a 2nd activity! A 3d jigsaw puzzle!Con: the brachipod was extremely pitted, and when washed smelled horrible, like lake sludge.Pro: the fossil poop didnt smell bad XDPro: Came in a nice breakable brick yiu have to “excavate” the fossils from. Was fun at first.Con: Super messy, the dust gets every where, and I dont many kids with attention soams long enough to gently carve out each fossil.Pro: came with toolsCon: very small tools amd I have giant hands. Probably not an issue if i had been of the right age group lol.Overall. It’s fun, would be a cool gift. Has real fossil, but they are low grade. You may not get everything listed, and have to be super diligent to make sure you get them all as some are pretty small. And its messy.Catch it on sale I’ll probably buy a couple for my kid cousins… and maybe another for my self. 🙂

A great value for a great kit!!
My dinosaur-loving nephew and I had an AMAZING time raising my sister’s blood pressure after I let him go digging for fossils on her kitchen floor! Seriously though, he loved it. I loved it. This is a great tactile and educational gift for kids into geology and prehistoric creatures… or even kids who just yearn to dig. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind: The dirt brick the fossils come packed is in kind of firm, so you’ll want to soften it up with a bit of water. Oh, and lay out some kind of mess-proof barrier like a trash bag or a tarp if you’re doing this inside (or just do it outside), and have wipes or towels handy because it will get messy. Also, temper your expectations. The fossils are genuine, don’t expect perfectly intact specimens. One of our fossils came in pieces, which is fine. The average fossil is about the size of a walnut, perfect for a young scholar’s collection but not so much for the smaller kiddos that like to put anything and everything in their mouths. Not only are the fossils real, but they’re pretty. Yes, even the little poop. Seriously, I would have died to have this toy as a child. If they make one with all geodes, I WILL be buying one just for myself. I don’t care if I’m in my thirties.

Great homeschool project
My girls love these so much! Keeps them busy! My youngest (6 years old) tears into it like crazy, my oldest (almost 11) takes her time. Itâs fun to watch them match each fossil to the pictures and descriptions in the book! Keeps them busy for hours and a great project to tie into our paleontology lessons

Great educational tool
I used this as part of a homeschooling lesson and my kid loved it. It kept them engaged and I didn’t have to polish the fossils and things. Great for 7+, at least.Worth the money. Very good quality.I might even order another one!

I would have not guessed how much the kids like it
For reasons I cannot fathom, the kids go absolutely bananas for these. It’s basically an assortment of fossil replicas suspended in clay. Set out a drop cloth or take outdoors! This stuff can be a mess. But the kids think it’s the biggest fun. And it lasts for a long time. I would have guessed it would take a few minutes and hey presto! All done! But no. They chipped and carved and brushed and splashed and so forth for quite a while. We left ours outside on the patio and the kids would go out for a while each day to dig until it was finally depleted. Totally worth it. Go figure.

UPDATEAmazing, after reading our comment we received an email saying that they could either refund us or exchange! The replacement kit has just arrived and we can’t wait to dig ð! Thank you very much, your service is exceptional and for that you deserve 10 stars! Thank you.Very interesting, educational and fun. I bought for the name because NG is trusted, but, the crinoid is missing, two are broken and some are really small, we can barely see what it is. Despite everything, the kits of the company NG are a great discovery. I will certainly buy the kit with the stones, but not this one. Even if I really loved the idea i am désappoint about this kit sorry

My daughter loved this and was hooked from the moment she uncovered the first fossil and now really enjoyed studying them and identifying which is which. As others have said, the brick is a bit hard to start with so it’d be best to add water to soften, but poke some small holes first to allow it to soak in. The fossils were also quite grouped together, so to get one out, you’d reveal another which had to come out first. And yes, this gets quite messy, which of part of the fun!We also found it quite tricky to get all of the plaster off when rinsing, and although we got all 15 out intact, the shark tooth broke whilst we were cleaning it, so I’d recommend being quite careful with them; some are more fragile than others and younger children might be a little heavy handed when digging.Overall, a brilliant gift for any child interested fossils/science.
