Excellent Alarm Clock-Radio With Great Dimming Range and Very Good Volume Range
Overall, this is the only alarm clock-radio I could find that seems to be built with acceptable quality and also has the face-dimming range and radio volume range to be useful to me. The large numbers on the display are clear and easy to read (I have the black unit with white LED display). The control layout on the top and the back of the product is intuitive and easy to use, unlike many other clock-radio products. The controls for all of the features you will need to use most often and in the dark are all via buttons on the top of the unit that are easy to access. The only controls on the back of the unit are: 1) the dimming wheel for the display lighting; 2) the volume wheel for the alarm beeps and siren (but not the radio – see below); and 3) the switches for choosing the type of alarm sound you want to use and for changing the time display or the alarm time. A USB port and the DC power plug port are also on the back.One feature of this product that sets it apart from many others is the fact that you can dim the display lighting from off to very bright, with a step-less dimming wheel on the back of the unit. This works very well, and although auto-dimming might have been a nice feature to add, it is not difficult to move the wheel on the back to adjust the display dimmer when you need to. I need this feature to dim the display to a very low output level, as I am very sensitive to light both before and during sleep.Another important feature for me is the wide range of volume for the alarms. In addition to being sensitive to light when I need to sleep, I am a light sleeper. I don’t need a loud alarm to wake up, and I prefer to wake to a radio broadcast, rather than a harsh noise. I have been unable to use several alarm clocks I bought previously on Amazon, due to the minimum alarm radio volume being so loud that it was jarring to me and might have disturbed the residents in neighboring apartments. On this product, fortunately, the volume of the radio when used as the alarm sound does reduce to a level that I can use and will not wake my neighbors. However, while the instruction manual says that the alarm volumes range from 30 to 110 dB, I found that the range was not as large as the manual claims. I used my NIOSH phone app (calibrated to my Class 2 dB(A) meter) to measure the minimum and maximum sound levels on my unit for the radio when used as the alarm, and I found the minimum radio volume on my unit is 58-60 dB(A), and the maximum is 100-102 dB(A). However, that is still a very good range, compared to other available products. Like I said, it is quiet enough to work for me, and it gets really, really loud for a clock-radio of this size.The other nice aspect of this product that sets it apart from others for me is the volume control buttons for the radio. I was pleasantly surprised to find upon delivery of the product that the volume control buttons for the radio are on top of the unit, which makes it very easy to change the volume. Based on the description of the product on the Amazon product page, I thought that the volume of the radio when used for the alarm sound was controlled by the wheel on the back of the unit. However, that is NOT the case, as the instruction manual explains. The alarm volume wheel on the back controls the volume of the two other alarm sound options – the beep and the siren – but NOT the volume of the radio when the radio is used for the alarm sound. The volume of the radio when used for the alarm sound is adjusted by simply pressing the two buttons on top that are labeled with the speaker symbol – one button for increasing volume and the other button for decreasing volume. That makes radio volume adjustment easy for those of us who like waking to the radio.Also, while there are reviews claiming that the radio volume for general radio listening cannot be set independently from the radio volume for using the radio for the alarm sound, on my unit the radio volume for general listening IS set independently from the radio volume when using the radio for the alarm sound. As the instruction manual explains, when the radio button is pressed to turn on the radio for general listening, pressing the radio volume buttons adjusts the volume of the radio only for general listening. When you wish to adjust the volume of the radio when it is used as the alarm sound, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE RADIO OFF when you are pressing the radio volume buttons.The night light function is helpful to me for this reason: there is no backlighting on the buttons on the top of the unit. I leave the night light ring off, normally, but I turn it on when I need to see the buttons on top of the unit and the room is dark. Turning the night light on and changing its color is as easy as a short press of the SNOOZE/LIGHT button. Just remember that turning off the night light and preserving the light color you chose requires you to turn off the night light with a long press of the SNOOZE/LIGHT button, rather than a short press, which will change the color and leave the light on. The night light dimmer also works well, and is accessible with a handy button on top of the unit. The night light output level you select will be memorized by the product when you turn off the light, and it will turn on again at the same level.One more fact that might be of interest to you and that is not covered in the instruction manual: I have tested rechargeable NiMH (Eneloop brand) batteries for battery backup in this product, and they work. When the product is operating only on battery power (it is unplugged), the clock and other display features will not be on, unless you press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button, in which case the display comes on for eight seconds and then turns off to conserve battery power. However, when operating on battery power the set time is preserved, and the alarm does go off at the set time.In all, this clock-radio is a great value, and it will work well for people with a wide range of sensitivities to light levels and sounds for waking. The adjustments and options are easy to access and intuitive to use. It is an attractive, small unit that will fit in a variety of spaces. Only time will tell if the product holds up to long-term use, and I’ve only had it for a few days. However, I am enjoying using the product so far, and I am relieved that I have finally found an alarm clock that meets my needs.

Loud! And cool lights simple to use
I love this alarm clock! I was having a really hard time waking up and the siren is just unbearable and perfect to wake up to. I love that you can change the color of the clock and you can literally change the color of the light and the clock face separately. It’s simple but it’s high quality the battery backup works very well. It’s perfect if you want something uncomplicated and it does its job well. There’s one USB port.

Nice Features in a “Basic” Clock
I got this alarm clock for our guest bedroom and really wasn’t too concerned about features or functionality. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the clock has useful, interesting features. The controls are intuitive, so I didn’t need to consult the instructions to get everything up and running. The display numbers are large and can be read from across the room, and the nightlight feature with a user-selectable color turns out to be more useful than I anticipated. The radio does a decent job of capturing local stations, and the volume of the various alarm options is adjustable and quite loud at the max setting. As an added bonus, the clock contains a USB port in the back to allow charging of a phone or other device. All in all, if you are looking for a single alarm in a compact package, this is a fine choice at a very good price point.

Perfect for my heavy sleepers
I bought this for my tween who is a heavy sleeper. Wow! The first morning we used it we thought an ambulance had crashed into the house or Jesus had returned it was so loud. It definitely does the job!The display is bright, it was easy to set the time and the alarm. We don’t use any of the USB ports but I imagine they may be helpful in the future. My daughter likes being able to set the different colors. She does NOT like the alarm, but I do. Mama approved.

Recommend. Nice big numbers in a small size. Easy to set. Easy to read at night. Like the dimmer wheel. FM radio sound is okay.
