This thing is FANTASTIC!
There is quite a bit good about this, so if you’re on the fence, read on: First, I’m an amateur watchmaker and I know quite a bit about watches and clocks. This thing is special for a variety of reasons. 1.) Even though it’s battery powered quartz movement, it has a smooth sweeping hand that seamlessly glides around the clock day and night SILENTLY, so you can put this directly next to your head on your night stand. It is reminiscent of Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive movement, albeit a completely different mechanism and technology. 2.) The alarm is incredibly easy to set. Simply turn the knob to the time. When you want the alarm on, press a button. Has an excellent and easy to use Snooze feature. Alarm off? Just press a single button. No more fussing with phones. 3.) Has an auto backlight feature to illuminate the clock when you’re asleep. Wake up in the middle of the night and you can instantly tell what time it is, because when the lights go down in your room it illuminates automatically! 4.) The night illumination is NOT too bright. It is absolutely perfect, and will not keep you awake even if you’re a side sleeper facing the clock directly. 5.) AA batteries. Easy to get. Easy to use. 6.) Excellent build quality. I was surprised at the quality of this little alarm clock. Very well built and good looking. A wonderful design. For me, phones are horrifically sleep-disruptive, even with the screen at it’s dimmest night setting. Wake up and need to know what time it is? Have to reach over and find the phone, pick it up, enter a passcode, the screen blinds you and then look at the time. Need to snooze the alarm? HAve to pick the phone up, the screen blinds you and then you have to find a tiny spot on the screen to press and it doesn’t always work first press. It’s horrible frankly. With this alarm clock you just turn the alarm off and rest. You don’t have to have your phone on at all, and if you wake in the night you simply glance at the already backlit time. When the alarm goes off it’s much more pleasant than a phone and the snooze is a REAL BUTTON. So is turning off the alarm.Frankly I’ll never not use this again. LOVE IT. Buy it now.

Pretty much perfect
This thing is great. Small enough to carry traveling, but easy enough to read on the bedside table. Its completely quiet, you can’t hear any ticking unless you hold it directly against your ear. The smooth seconds hand is great to watch. The night light works well, is a pleasant colour and isn’t too bright.I don’t use the alarm much, but it’s loud enough. It’s easy enough to set, especially if you want it to go off at the top of the hour, but it is tough to be precise – so if you need it to go off at 6.23am, you’ll struggle to hit that exactly. It’s a great little clock.

Another good Marathon clock
This is my second Marathon alarm clock—-I still have the other model that is slightly larger than this mini version—-I was so pleased with the bigger model I decided to purchase the mini when I needed a new travel alarm. The mini is a great size for a night table, yet small enough to pack for a trip. They are well made and easy to set. The only issue I would have with mini is that the sweep second hand is white as are the hour/minute hands—you have to be careful when reading the clock because of all the white hands. My larger Marathon has a red sweep second hand that makes reading the white minute/hour hands much easier. These clocks aren’t inexpensive but are quality (not cheap plastic–but higher value plastic) and I expect them to last a long time. It also is hard to find a small clock that has the darkness sensor feature—-it is nice to walk into a room and have the dial automatically lit—you can also place it on a table, out of arms reach, and still have a lit dial. All in all, I am quite happy with these Marathon clocks.

Another great marathon product.
This is a nice little clock. I am a marathon fan. I have one of their watches and have been a fan ever since. This clock is smaller than you might imagine, but not unreasonably so. It’s very legible and has a nice sweeping second hand that mimics an automatic watch second hand. It glows an orange color when the lights are out. While it looks cool and makes it simple to read, I wished it was like their watches and had tritium tubes for markers. As I think they’re the best illumination for watches. They might not be the brightest of the lume, but they’re long lasting. I gave it 4 stars because it runs pretty fast, especially for a quartz. I’d say +10-20sec a day. Not a huge deal, and I’d rather it be fast than slow, but just unexpected from a quartz and marathon. It’s a small gripe though, not a huge deal. I’d recommend this one. Very cool clock.

Despite the low price, this Marathon desk clock has an excellent build quality and has a simple, industrial design. It is constructed of quality plastics and doesn’t look or feel cheap. It has a good weight to it. The second hand sweep is smooth and completely silent, I didn’t even notice any hum. It has some nice features, including a light that comes on when top light button pressed. It only lights for 5 seconds and then fades off. It also has an auto light mode which provides a dim light when the ambient light is low. There is also an alarm. The clock as comes with a 2-year limited warranty. 5 stars, highly recommended.
