These work great for camping or skiing!!!
We love these walkie talkies as they are so much fun and functional at the same time; not just as toys but also get the job done when we go out on camping trips especially to those areas where there is no cellphone reception, these work very well. We also take them on Skiing trips upto the mountains to communicate with the littles ones as well as the other members in the group. I know a friend who used them on a cross-country multi-family RV tour; and they have used only these walkie-talkies exclusively to communicate with each other on the highway to make stops for gas/food as there was no cellphone coverage for miles and these devices have a decent range when on a flat terrain and about a mile or two when there is not a lot of obstructions.One of the nicest features is that they can be paired with any other brand walkie-talkies as long as they are on the same channel and they have quite a few channels to choose from to eliminate any kind of cross talk. The volume and the voice quality from these things is pretty good and they also don’t use a whole lot of battery but having extra AA batteries is always a good idea. I carry extra rechargeable batteries with me and it’s not a problem.Overall, these are very good and you can’t go wrong. We have purchased couple pairs to give it to each family member during trips.

It’s easily removed to make the units more form-fitting. But it also acts as a secondary latch on the battery compartment and must be removed prior to opening the second compartment panel beneath.I subtract one star for the blinding back light and the incomplete manual. But these are inexpensive, fully functional, small FRS walkie talkie units comparable and compatible with others, such as the Motorola Talkabout units that we use them with.[I revised my initial one-star rating review after being immediately contacted by customer support who explained one of the undocumented features that led me to experiment with the units and discover the other.]
