Sony ICFC1PJ Clock Radio with Time Projector (1.57-Inch Speaker)

My go-to clock radio
This is the second Sony clock radio I’ve purchased. I need an additional one for the guest room. Excellent projection and functions. I don’t use the sleep function or the radio. Battery backup works well during power outages.

Clock Projector Really Works
I am using this alarm clock/radio primarily as a clock. In the daytime, with glasses on, the variable-brightness digital display is easily read from across the room. At night, the projector may be set to project onto the ceiling. The projected time is large, sharp and clear so that it can be read without eyeglasses. The projector may be rotated towards the ceiling or a wall. The projected brightness works only at night or in deep twilight – it cannot be seen in the daytime. The AM/FM radio sound is mediocre but the reception is good. My main complaint is that the user interface is complicated. There are 20 different buttons to control the device! As far as I can tell, there is no way to turn the radio on and off. I solve this by turning the volume up and down using two separate buttons. Tuning is likewise achieved by pushing up/down buttons. The digital display is good. Overall, I am pleased and amused by this clock.

Sony – not worth the extra price any more
The whole reason I paid double the price of the other clock radios is because it was from Sony. I’m old enough to remember that once the Sony brand meant something. We had a Sony Trinatron TV for 20+ years!The product came with a simple flaw. The am antenna has a loose wire. Looks like a bad solder.1) I contacted Amazon and they said I had to contact Sony.2) I tried calling Sony but didn’t have success so I jumped on a chat session.3) During the chat session the cust support person tried to pin the issue on Amazon. They said I had to contact amazon as it had been damaged during shipping. I pointed out that the Amazon box was pristine. The Sony box was pristine and everything in the box was packed perfectly. I pointed out that it looked like a bad solder during the manufacturing process. About this time the chat session ended. Maybe it broke by itself. No one contacted me back.5) I then used Sony’s “Call you back” option. I gave them my phone number and again described the problem. In about 2 minutes I got a call from Sony. “Press 1 to connect the call…” I pressed 1 and there wasn’t anyone on the other side. Silence. I waited for about 5 minutes then hung up.6) Used Sony’s “Call you back” option again. Did the same thing. Got a call in about 2 minutes. Pressed 1 to connect the call. Within 30 second the call was disconnected.Bottom line S-O-N-Y S-U-C-K-S. Do NOT pay the extra money to get their product. They are no better than any other overseas crap-producing company. As long as you are going to get junk, you might as well not pay double for it so your junk can have a Sony label on it.

Fue una grata sorpresa escuchar que los sonidos para despertar son sumamente agradables, nunca lo imaginé. Trae cinco diferentes.El sonido del mar y del agua fueron mis favoritos. Como sugerencia de marketing, sería bueno agregar un video que contenga estos audios. Sí hacen la diferencia para elegir este despertador versus otros, y solo sugiero tener más colores de este mismo modelo, como el blanco.

Die Uhr sieht erstmal sehr gut aus. Radioempfang ist prima. Das Beste ist das in alle Richtungen drehbare Projektionsbild: man kann das Bild horizontal und vertikal spiegeln – ganz wie man es gerne hätte (immer um 90 Grad). Außerdem kann man das Projektionsbild auf die jeweilige Brennweite scharfstellen.Das eigentliche LED-Licht der Uhr ist über drei Stufen dimmbar. Insgesamt leichte und intuitive Bedienung. Knöpfe auch im Dunkeln gut zu finden, da gut fühlbar an den Ecken angeordnet.Zwei Weckzeiten sind einstellbar und dazu gibt es 6 Natursounds, z.B. Wellenrauschen oder Vögelgezwitscher.Außerdem hat der Radiowecker noch eine USB-Ladeport fürs Handy.

Non potrò mai esprimere a parole la soddisfazione che quotidianamente questa sveglia mi regala.Iniziamo con le funzioni di base: l’orologio si regola da solo e non perde un colpo a distanza di mesi, l’ora è sempre esatta.La sveglia funziona anche in caso di blackout grazie alla batteria tampone integrata, perciò non si rischia di arrivare a lavoro in ritardo per colpa di qualche disguido.La possibilità di impostare due sveglie, una per i giorni feriali e una per i giorni festivi, è geniale e permette di non dover cambiare le impostazioni ogni settimana (o di doversi svegliare prestissimo/tardissimo la domenica per pigrizia) ma semplicemente di attivare la sveglia A, B o entrambe con la semplice pressione di un tasto.Il display ha una luminosità regolabile su 4 livelli; impostato al massimo, al buio illumina la stanza. Al minimo, è invece spento. Io sono solito tenerlo al livello minimo sopra lo spento, e risulta visibile anche di giorno.La proiezione è perfetta, premendo il tastino la si accende per 16 ore, quindi abbondantemente tutta la durata della nottata di sonno.I suoni naturali sono bellissimi per avere un risveglio più rilassante del classico cicalino (che ho sempre odiato perché mi metteva ansia e svegliava di malumore). Attualmente invece mi sveglio con il cinguettare degli usignoli. Decisamente un passo avanti. È poi possibile usare anche la radio come sveglia, ma personalmente una volta provati i suoni naturali non penso tornerò mai più indietro.Ulteriore comodità è la porta USB per ricaricare il cellulare mentre si dorme. È compatibile non solo con tutti gli smartphone Android ma anche con iPhone e iPad, perciò anche qui non posso far altro che tessere lodi.In definitiva è la sveglia perfetta che cercavo da tantissimo tempo. Brava Sony!
